Two months ago I didn’t know how to use After Effects. I spent 10 bucks on a classroom in book at a Barnes & Nobles. I usually don’t try to buy books but I thought it would be a great investment. Had I not bought I would probably procrastinated even more on trying to learn it.
I think it is important to say that my mind could of easily swayed me from not buying it. My heart wanted to learn it but my mind was saying “70 BUCKS!!!, lets go buy clothes for this sexy body.” Our mind will always get in the way of things that we want or want to be. It’s like when you start out to do something and you just suddenly stop. You start to doubt. Just go. You can always forgive yourself later.

I have a love hate relationship with coloring. I suck at it but it’s my favorite part of the process. I’m probably going to scratch most of this intro haha. This whole process reminds me of when I used to mix recording compositions when I did music. I would spend over 12+ hours straight just trying to “get it just right,” but the hours put in is detrimental to he process because I never took breaks causing my ears to not function properly. Same goes with my eyes. Watching the same couple of frames gets all muddy to me. I wake up and I’ll look it again like I just made a bad decision at the bar last night. Sometimes I should just keep things simple.

My Precious niece looking at fireworks going off in the parking lot. If you ask her if she’s scared she’ll say, “I’m not scared” lol
Jamary’s Sweet 15
I got a referral from a friend to shoot a Sweet 15. “A Sweet 15?!” I thought, don’t you mean Sweet 16? Haha. The idea of of a Quinceanera was new to me. I grew up around Latin American culture and never heard of it. Even my niece is half Hispanic. I need to get up to speed!
This was actually my first gig in while. I was a second shooter for wedding one time but this one is different. I was all by myself. This event felt like a wedding tho.
Well I can hear the fireworks going off as I edit this piece and I love how it is coming out so far. I’m not happy with a lot of shots being they are not steady. I wish I had a Steadicam or something. I had plenty more amazing shots to work with. I’m just laying down the shots I want on the timeline and then I was import this all into after effects and do all the coloring and effects there along with the transition. I’m debating whether I should do black and white hmmm….
All my love.

Event:Personal trip to New York City
Canon Powershot S95
I stared off learning how to edit by doing such videos as this one here. Just taking my point & shoot S95 and just shooting away. This was taken around the time where I was learning my way around New York getting familiar with the subways and streets. A year later and I am still learning it. I still get my uptown and downtown mixed up. I usually get really nervous and just hop off the next stop to regroup.
I love New York, I hope to live and break in a career somewhere there.

Event:Slaughterhouse x True 2 Life Music
Canon 7D
17-55mm 2.8
Did some behind the scenes shooting and editing for the guys here. One of the cool things of doing this is being on stage. I enjoy capturing the environment and ambiance of where I’m at. One of my dreams is to travel the world for free just to document someones day while enjoying new cultures and people.

After Effects
This one is just about done. I just had to wait till I got more ram to render out the entire video out of After Effects and then later onto Sony Vegas for final compression.
We shot this same day as “Something Real.” It wasn’t even planned and I only brought home maybe 8 clips. I was done with some projects and I pulled up these files to play with and it was turning out great for something that started out as nothing!
This is my first project that I added After Effects into my workflow. Doing so have me contemplating learning Adobe Premiere just for the Dynamic Link feature. I don’t think I’ll completely abandon Sony Vegas Pro tho. I cut like an iron chef on that thing and it is still optimal environment for music videos. I want to venture outside music videos to see what type of the other work flows there are.

We literally just started filming on the J Train back and forth from Bedstuy and Marcy. I’m not from New York but I was wondering these people must see this all the time on the subways.
